Unfortunately I feel like a fortune teller now.  Read the following story that I got on one of my Google Alerts (thanks Winter) .  This is from our local newspaper and happened this past weekend.

The sheriff's office says the man in the surveillance photo is a suspect in the robbery of a real estate agent.

GREENSBORO - A real estate agent was robbed and tied up by two men this past weekend.

The Guilford County Sheriff's Office said a man entered the Allen Tate real estate office at 954 Golf House Road West in eastern Guilford County at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. The man inquired about homes in the Stoney Creek area, then became loud and tried to grab the agent by the arm. The man pulled out a gun, and a second suspect entered the business.

The sheriff's office said the two suspects tied up the agent and locked her in a restroom. The victim, whom the sheriff's office did not identify, was discovered later by a cleaning person who called deputies. Paramedics treated the agent for minor undisclosed injuries.

Deputies said the suspects took the agent's cell phone, computer and ATM cards. The ATM card has been used at two different locations since the robbery. The sheriff's office did not identify those locations.

The sheriff's office did not describe the suspects, although it released a picture of one Tuesday using a stolen bank card at an ATM machine.

Anyone with information about the incident can call Det. G.R. Moore at 641-5940 or Crime Stoppers at 373-1000.

EVERYONE PLEASE BE CAREFUL OUT THERE.  THIS WAS AN AGENT ON PHONE DUTY AT HER OFFICE.  IN THERE BY HERSELF HOPING FOR WALK IN BUSINESS.

Safety First know your surroundings and situation!

OK once again everyone we all need to be reminded of not being complacent of our surroundings.  Do not think that just because it is daylight that nothing can happen to you!  Not long ago we had an agent in our office go to list an investment property and was almost assaulted by a homeless person that had broken in to the house.  Of course I say almost because her taser was quicker then he was.  There was another person with her so it was not that she was alone either.

Please be aware of your surroundings.

Let someone at the office know where you are going to.

Take someone with you if not two people.

Do not go at night to meet with a prospect that you do not know.  Bring them to the office during normal business hours.

Carry mace, pepper spray, or even a taser.  There is no thing as being to careful in our line of work.

I will admit we have an agent in our Winston Salem office that once a year organizes a concealed permit class to carry a concealed weapon.   In NC you have to have the class and pass an exam and then a waiting period in order to carry a concealed weapon.   I have actually thought seriously about going next time.
